California Chrome (William Hill: 5-2, Finley: 5-2): The edge he has on the rest is that he controls his own destiny. A win in the Breeders' Cup Classic will certainly be enough for him to land the honor. If he loses the Classic he has to hope that the other top contenders falter.
From Horse Racing Radio Network facebook: Sherman: Chrome is doing good but I'll feel a lot better when he's back in his normal stall. Sherman - there's a chance @CalChrome will run at @losalracing on Sept. 27. Sherman - @CalChrome is a horse that doesn't need much in the way of prep races. Sherman - @SharedBelief and @CalChrome have very similar running styles. The two wouldn't meet up until the @BreedersCup Classic. Sherman - I'd love to see @Tonalist again. I'd like to try him one more time. Sherman - I love Untapable, I think that filly's the real McCoy.
CALIFORNIA CHROME (Last week- No. 3) The Kentucky Derby and Preakness hero is getting much-deserved R & R before he hits the track again later in the summer. He will stay in California, presumably to be pointed for the Sept. 28 Awesome Again at Santa Anita and then the Classic. Nine 3-year-olds have won the Classic – the most recent being Raven’s Pass and Curlin back-to-back in 2008 and 2007, respectively.
