Oh, good grief. I must have been really sicker than I thought yesterday, and it's too late to edit. The first line in my post above has a glaring, horrible misspelling -- "their" should be "there." I apoligize. Blush.
Shackleford's half-sister, Sherini, is racing this Sunday, Sept 6, 2015 in a seven-furloing sprint on the main track at Saratoga.
Breaking from the rail and making her career debut, Sherini, a daughter of Bernardini, is a My Meadowview Farm homebred trained by Graham Motion. My Meadowview purchased Shackleford's dam, 2011 Broodmare of the Year Oatsee, for $1.55 million at the 2008 Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
Classic winner and freshman sire Shackleford got his first winner May 27 at Gulfstream Park when Little Nappy held off a late challenge to win a 4 1/2 -furlong $55,000 maiden special weight race by a nose.
Name Unshackled (Breeder: Shack Baby Productions LLC) she has yet to have a recorded workout. But here's a May 20, 2016 update from facebook:
After getting started with my trainer earlier this year I've been back at my home farm to allow my knees to finish growing and it has now been confirmed with my latest X-ray I am good to go and heading back to Tapeta with Michael! I can't wait to get back into my training! I know everyone is excited to know when my first race could be and as I progress through training we will have a better idea. My owners have no set timeline for me so it will just be when Michael says I'm ready!
They are so lucky! I want to be able to do this! This little Shack filly was born on KY Oaks day
Little Nappy, his first winner, and Unshackled, bred by Shack Baby Productions, a partnership of ladies who love Shackleford. Those are the only two names I know of for any of Shackleford's two year-olds.
