Cavorting (Bernardini x Promenade Girl)

EriNCEriNC Member
I have liked this filly since her first work. her time was the fastest for that distance. I continued to follow her and her first race she won by 11 lengths (http://www.nyra.com/belmont/videos/race-replay/BED/2014/20140703/4/pan/) and then she was immediately jumped up to stakes company (grade 2) and she won by a shorter margin, but showed great growth.(http://espn.go.com/horse-racing/story/_/id/11336156/cavorting-remains-perfect-adirondack-triumph) this is definitely a filly to watch.

  • Liked those two races. Will continue to follow her
  • Thanks for including her two races EriNC. She does show promise and she's related to Coz, obviously, through Bernardini. I guess they're both up there in Saratoga, training. I hope she makes it through her career with no injuries.
  • Cavorting, owned by Stonestreet. I think she was a purchase, not a homebred. Nice, promising filly.
  • I hope we see her race as a three year old....If so, I guess another thread will have to be started...Cavorting 3 year old filly.
  • LOL. Actually, I thought the original thread was about a cavorting filly and read the post and thought, "Okay, so what's her name? And how was she cavorting?" LOL Seemed very weird until I watched the first race and realized Cavorting was her name. The thread title should have had a comma after the first word.

Joanna_TX, she was purchased as a weanling at the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale in Nov, 2012, for a pretty penny. She shares the sire pedigree of Coz, but her dam side has a lot of Native Dancer, which she also has on the sire side. This gives her good speed, but hope she doesn't get the weakness issues. There was another racehorse named Cavorting, who was foaled in 1948.

VA_in_CA....you are too funny, but yeah, if one did not know that Cavorting was the name, I can see how you'd think "what in the world was this filly cavorting about?" LOL

Since cavort can mean to dance or dance around, maybe someone can think of a way to use it in a name for Princess Z.
  • Maybe Kylea should be asked to change the Discussion name to: Cavorting: Sired by Bernardini.

That way if Cavorting keeps on cavorting into the winner's circle the Discussion Title will stay relevant.
  • Cavorting finished 7th (last) in the Frizette. Dont know if she didnt like the mud or what, but she wasnt the same filly.

Looked like she didn't like the mud one bit. This is the type of race that's easy to throw out.
  • Cavorting Kicks Clear in Ogden Phipps

Stonestreet Stables' 4-year-old Bernardini filly is now 4-for-5 at the New York oval for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

  • Thank you Kylea for the revised Discussion title.
  • And she dumped her jockey.
  • haha, saw that.....when putting on the blanket of flowers she side stepped hard and off went the jockey.
    And she dumped her jockey.
  • Bless those Bernardini fillies, haha!

Cavorting Dominates Deep Field In Ogden Phipps
by Paulick Report Staff | 06.11.2016
Stonestreet Stable's Cavorting exploded late to be the 2 1/2-length winner of Saturday's Grade 1 Ogden Phipps at Belmont Park, defeating a talented group of older fillies and mares. The 4-year-old daughter of Bernardini covered 1 1/16 miles over the fast main track in 1:40.14 for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, earning her second G1 victory and giving McLaughlin his third Ogden Phipps victory in the past five years.

Cavorting was never again challenged on the front end, crossing the wire 2 1/2 lengths in front of the hard-luck, late-charging Forever Unbridled. Carrumba was a half-length back in third, and Curalina finished fourth.

RACE REPLAY: 2016 Personal Ensign Stakes Featuring Cavorting:
  • Nice come from behind win. And I love her name. So perfect for a filly.
  • Cavorting's next goal is the Distaff. She might race once more in between now and then. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/214600/cavorting-to-distaff-mohaymen-gets-time-off
  • That's pretty ambitious considering Beholder and Songbird.

She has a couple of G1s under her belt this year. Her speed figures are better than songbird's this year. Should be a good distaff.
  • Cavorting is very, very good and just getting better.
