First confirmed death is a Little Red Feather horse, a 2yo named Oddsmaker. I'm just heartbroken for the LRF family right now. Billy said he was their best 2yo.
I follow a horse that was at San Luis Rey -- Lifeline (Tapit-Life Is Sweet). After getting workout reports for him from there throughout November, only this week was he listed back at Santa Anita. I have no stake in any of these horses, but this is such a gut punch. I wish I could be out there, to show up to volunteer at Del Mar, even if just to tote water and spread shavings in stalls. A Go Fund Me page has been set up for donations -- https://www.gofundme.com/help-for-san-luis-rey-downs.
@Especially_Horses, are you experienced with horses? Because Del Mar needs volunteers right now. And @Rachel, I shared that video on Facebook. Truly harrowing, and horrifying. Those poor, terrified horses gunning around frantically.
Doug O'Neill has posted that he headed to SLR as soon as news broke about the fire and he has asked his owners to have patience waiting for updates.
I follow a lot of Doug's horses, so I'm just sick about this. I think that's where Saudi Chroma was right before she shipped back to Santa Anita just recently.
Just passed Del Mar. Lots of lights on, but too dark to really see anything.
Unfortunately, I am in the area to attend to the needs of an elderly parent, otherwise I'd be very capable of getting stalls ready for incoming horses.

These wildfires have been devastating. I've never seen anything like what's happening now.
