All harness and flat racing has been stopped for two weeks and racing in Norway and Sweden will take place behind close if at all.
Norway was effectively shut down this evening at 6pm for two weeks with all schools, Universities and kindergartens shut down as well as restaurants etc. People are now to work from home and most businesses will now close down for the next two weeks. Only food shops will now stay open.
Stay safe people, this is no joke, these measures were put in place after the first death in Norway was announced this evening
The Maryland Jockey Club has also announced that their tracks are closed to the public until further notice, but live racing will continue.
I'm currently teleworking indefinitely, but I feel terrible for anyone who can't work from home and/or doesn't have sick leave to use. I'm certain this will all pass, but it's pretty surreal right now. I've never seen or heard of anything quite like it.
Yep. Many colleges and universities online as of Monday. American U sending students from campus home. Feds are encouraging big time teleworking. National Cathedral not holding services; 300 churches doing same in DC area. Yonkers racetrack shut down...
State of Ohio is in a State of Emergency so all race tracks are closed to the Public and it is insane at the grocery stores as it took my Husband almost 1 hour to just buy a couple loaves of bread, and some fresh fruit. TP is non existent and there was a line of 80 people at our local Krogers Fighting over a pallet of TP that just came off the truck. All schools will be closed end of Monday for 3 weeks extended spring break , and all Movie theaters are mandatory closed. It is crazy.
State of Colorado is in a state of emergency too............my brother goes to the local university here. We have warm, spring weather so they are having classes outside just to keep up so people can graduate. But really -- will there be a ceremony? I hear the grocery store here is pandemonium as are they in TN where my BFF lives.
I've had a dental appointment this week, and tomorrow I go in for knee injection. I was called by both offices to ensure I did not come in with a fever or respiratory issues.
Florida is shutting down a lot of venues, sporting events and large scale destination sites. Disney World, Sea World are both shutting down for 2 weeks after this weekend. Our schools in Hillsborough County will be on Spring Break for two weeks but FSU and UF are going to online classes already, This is starting to get a little bit scary, my kids want me in "lockdown" at my home! I can't find hand sanitizer anywhere, but soap and water work, probably better. Our local Sam's Club had mayhem today with people panic buying. They had to kept people out and only let them in the store as others left the premises.
South Dakota is also in a state of emergency. Governor has also shut down all public high schools starting Monday for a week (if not longer) and is asking private schools to do the same. The state basketball tournaments for both boys and girls is also postponed if not canceled. Nearby colleges have also extended spring break an extra week.
In the area where I live we are closing all schools for 2 weeks. They will be doing a deep cleansing while everyone is out. Probably needed to be done YEARS ago.
We're basically on lockdown in NY, especially after Brennan died. I've been exclusively doing foal watch so I've hardly left the mountain besides to bring a mare to Sequel. We're trying to get everything delivered as much as possible
