Golden Award (1/2 sister to I'll Have Another by Medaglia d'Oro) is running June 13th in the Ogden Phipps Stakes (race9) for fillies and mares 4 years old and upward going 1 1/16th miles at Belmont. She will be ridden by Junior Alvarado. She is trained by Bill Mott and owned by Summer Wind Equine.

NOTE: this is a "win and your in" race for the Breedeers Cup Longines Distaff.

A gentle giant, she will softly touch your hands with her muzzle, searching for carrots ever so politely. It's easy to fall in love with this nearly black, sweet doe-eyed beauty at Summer Wind Farm. Her foal this year, a colt by Candy Ride, is quite a dynamic little firecracker, however. He will dare you to race down the fenceline with him and he will fearlessly push his nose into your face or camera or midsection -- whatever he can find -- to engage you (or unabashedly sneak a little nip now and then). He also is a bit of a show-off: he loves to run and he likes to demonstrate how fast he already is even though just a little over a month old. Born a blood bay, he is beginning to turn darker, much like his yearling full sister, who has been named Sweetened by breeder Jane Lyon and could not be more striking. The colt has been named Confidence Game, which seems so apropos considering how he constantly tries to gain the advantage in his interactions with his peers or people. It will be so intriguing to watch him and his sister develop and also to anticipate Eblouissante's next foal; she has been pronounced in foal to More Than Ready for 2021. She also has a 2yo colt by the great #Dubawi who was sold at Keeneland last September for $700,000 and has been named Picadilly Circus.

I'm just amazed at how savvy these confident ladies are at breeding. I know they have bloodstock advisors, but Jane, Mandy, Barbara, et al -- I am in awe of their boldness and success, and how they represent women in horse breeding and racing, the entire industry. (Also, I could care less if they bred all their mares to Tapit, every single one over and over -- he's proven himself to them, and they are paying the stud fee, who are we to question their knowledge of their mares and their conformation, needs, and pedigree?!).

If that was a dig at my earlier post, I am not questioning her decision or knowledge. I believe Littleprincessemma has four foals from Tapit out of the past five years (the only other being Pioneerof the Nile) of both sexes. I was simply stating that, as a fan and since she seems like a top tier broodmare, I would like to see how she matches with other stallions during her breeding career. I never once questioned her breeding tactics or why she is going back to Tapit. She obviously is liking what she is getting and the pair already produced a G1 winner.

Lioness, you should have no need to for apologies. Everyone has thrown their two cents in for breedings for Zenyatta.
