Although I am sad about this latest development with I'll Have Another being scratched the day before the race, can't help by make the connection to the 1969 Derby and Preekness winner Majestic Prince. He had developed a slight tendon problem in his right front leg, the trainer wanted to scratch him, but he owner was bitten big time by the Triple Crown bug and overruled the trainer and ran him anyway. Majestic came in second to Arts and Letters by 5 lengths and never ran again. To me granted it's a big let down, but thank goodness owners and trainers seem to be on the same page these days and take the welfare of the horse into consideration rather than the fame and fortune of winning a big race.
I'am sad IHA will not be running in the BS but I'am happy to see the owner & trainer have put the condition of this gorgous colt first, bravo
