KMM Wasn't that a great article? The view of Zenyatta as a fan in the stands is quite different from the ground-level trainer view. Learned a lot. Keta

Hall of Chrome Steve Haskin Hangin' With Haskin The Blood-Horse 29 March, 2016 Did California Chrome’s victory in the Dubai World Cup assure him a place in racing’s Hall of Fame? http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/horse-racing-steve-haskin/archive/2016/03/29/hall-of-chrome.aspx From article" "Here is a horse who accomplished something American racing fans no longer see – he won a race (at 1 1/4 miles) carrying 132 pounds and conceding 15 pounds to the second- and third-place finishers. I don’t care if the race was in Dubai and not one of major consequence. All I know is that the last time I wrote the words “132 pounds” and “conceding 15 pounds,” I was writing about Forego. "
good article, although-- "I don’t care if the race was in Dubai and not one of major consequence." The Dubai World Cup is not a race of "major consequence"??? WTF?
He is referring to Chrome prep race. A handicap were he was 'awarded' 132 pounds!

Rachel-Zenyatta Rivalry Ends in Dead-Heat Steve Haskin Hangin' with Haskin The Blood-Horse 10 August, 2016 It has been called the greatest rivalry that never was -- two magnificent fillies, as different as two horses can be, destined to never meet on the racetrack. The rivalry between Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra in reality was not between the horses, but their passionate and often zealous fans, who did everything but take up arms against each other. This was a feud settled by verbal warfare, often rooted in geographical differences. Some might even be upset that Rachel’s name comes first in the above headline, so let me assure you it is strictly alphabetical. http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/horse-racing-steve-haskin/archive/2016/08/10/rachel-zenyatta-rivalry-ends-in-dead-heat.aspx

How it all began-a combination history & autobiography. Most of all it is Steve Haskin at his best!
Darby Dan Back on the Derby Trail 01 March, 2017 Hangin' with Haskin the Blood-Horse Throughout the 1960s and ‘70s, and into the '80s, the name Darby Dan Farm and the Galbreath family were synonymous with the Triple Crown, especially the Kentucky Derby. The names still resound in my brain, with several of them finding a way into my heart forever. If it wasn’t for one in particular I would not be writing this column or any column for that matter, for he dramatically altered the course of my life and brought me to where I am today. http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/horse-racing-steve-haskin/archive/2017/03/01/darby-dan-back-on-the-derby-trail.aspx
Since I'm one of Steve's dedicated followers, I believe he could write a phone book and it would be wonderful, but I had to say here I think this one is one of my very favorites as he is sharing more of his history as well as the history of the farm and horses. I never knew he actually worked vacations on the farm but mucking out stalls certainly does indicate a deep devotion to horses, at least in my book. Lol!
Celeste That is why this article was such a fun read for me. Learned so much about how Steve transformed into Steve Haskin. Reading the early days on the farm showed his love of horses & farm life. I knew that he does a lot of hanging around the back of the track. Now I see this through his eyes. Keta

I Thought I had Seen it All Steve Haskin Hangin' With Haskin The Blood-Horse 25 March, 2017 Sometimes in Thoroughbred racing we have a tendency to spew out superlatives in the immediate aftermath of a spectacular performance. We start comparing the winner to the greats of the past, and then, like always, time has a way of tempering our spontaneous hyperbole and jolting us back to reality. So, following Arrogate’s mind-boggling performance in the Dubai World Cup, I wisely decided to wait for the goose bumps to subside and my hands to stop trembling before letting my fingers go anywhere near a computer keyboard. My brain was filled with so many awe inspiring and impassioned words and descriptions of what I had just seen it left my thought pattern in total disarray. http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/horse-racing-steve-haskin/archive/2017/03/25/i-thought-i-had-seen-it-all.aspx
