    Animal Kingdom, Others Ready for Dubai Flight
    By Michele MacDonald, The Blood-Horse Updated: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 2:22 PM
    Champions Animal Kingdom, Royal Delta, and Trinniberg lead an eight-horse American delegation set to fly to the United Arab Emirates, leaving Florida at approximately 9 p.m. EDT on March 19, for races on the $27 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) program March 30.
    Once they arrive, they will join multiple grade I winners Dullahan and Little Mike, who have been training at Meydan since their World Cup prep races on March 9, in the quarantine barn area to represent the United States in the world's most international racing event.
    The other American horses due to travel to Dubai, with the California-based runners flying first to Florida where they will join the others for a nonstop trip to the UAE, are:
    * The Doug O'Neill-trained pair of Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) runner-up He's Had Enough for the $2 million UAE Derby (UAE-II) and Malibu Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Private Zone for the Dubai Golden Shaheen;
    * Varsity, winner of the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes on Feb. 2 and trained by Christophe Clement, and grade III winner Great Attack, trained by Wesley Ward, both aimed for the $1 million Al Quoz Sprint (UAE-I);
    * Dice Flavor, handy winner of the El Camino Real Derby (gr. III) on Feb. 16 at Golden Gate Fields, which has the same brand of all-weather track that is installed at Meydan.

  • You've got to be kidding me, He's Had Enough is going to Dubai?! To run in the UAE Derby? The horse needs a break.

    HORSE RACING: Animal Kingdom preps for Dubai World Cup
    By Alex Brown Special to the Whig Posted: Thursday, March 28, 2013 8:50 pm
    The 2011 Kentucky Derby winner, Animal Kingdom, will be taking on the world this weekend when he competes in the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, United Arab Emerites. The race will be run on the Tapeta synthetic surface, the same one available to trainers at Fair Hill and one that Animal Kingdom should relish
    Most recently, Animal Kingdom finished second to leading turf runner Point of Entry in the Gulfstream Park Handicap (Grade 1) in Hallandale Beach, Fla., on Feb. 9.
    While that result might not have been ideal, many believe that the event was an ideal prep race for this challenge. Animal Kingdom will face 12 others, all of which are Group or Grade 1 performers, in a very deep field, and he is part of a three-horse entry from the United States, which also includes Delaware Handicap winner Royal Delta and synthetic track specialist Dullahan.
