Hip 1534, half-sister to Hansen. Sells for $130,000.
I was surprised at the low winning bid, until I saw the dam’s side. I didn't realize, that except for Hansen, going back to his fourth dam, there is no black-type on his maternal side, (don't know what there is after the fourth dam).
Looks like the burden is on Stormy Sunday to keep her female family alive.
1st dam STORMY SUNDAY, by Sir Cat. 3 wins in 4 starts at 3, $33,046. Dam of 3 other registered foals, 3 of racing age, 3 to race, 2 winners--
HANSEN (c. by Tapit). 5 wins in 9 starts at 2 and 3, $1,810,805, champion 2-year-old colt, Breeders' Cup Juvenile [G1] (CD, $1,080,000), Gotham S. [G3] (AQU, $240,000), Iowa Derby [G3] (PRM, $150,000), Bluegrass Cat Kentucky Cup Juvenile S. [L] (TP, $60,105), 2nd Toyota Blue Grass S. [G1] (KEE, $150,000), Holy Bull S. [G3] (GP, $80,000).
Tapanna (g. by Tapit). 4 wins at 3 and 4, placed at 5, 2013, $83,393.
Gunderson (c. by Corinthian). Placed at 3, 2013, $5,695.
2nd dam THINKIN'STRAIT, by Highland Park. Winner at 3 and 4, $14,042. Dam of 4 other foals, 2 to race, both winners-- Isabella Monique. Winner at 3, $16,333. Fast and Strait. Winner at 3 and 4, $15,854.
3rd dam TESCUDERA, by Temperence Hill. Placed at 3, $5,800. Dam of 1 foal, above.
4th dam THORN APPLE, by Stevward. Placed in 1 start at 2. Dam of 3 other foals, 1 to race-- Pleasant Evening. 3 wins at 2 and 3, $66,120.
The sire of Hansen’s half-sister is Act of War.
Act of War doesn’t have much to recommend either:
By ACT OF WAR (1998). Black-type winner of 9 races, 2 to 9, $406,696, Cardinal H.-R (AP, $51,690), Springfield S.-R (AP, $45,000), 2nd Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity-R (HAW, $20,435), 3rd Milwaukee Avenue H.-R (HAW, $9,- 504).
Sire of 2 crops of racing age, 9 foals, 7 starters, 2 winners of 3 races and earning $59,922, Military Action ($23,070), Act Torrid ($19,945).

Doesn't it seem funny that STORMY SUNDAY went from being bred to Tapit to a $1,000 fee sire who only has 9 foals? I wonder if she is in foal for 2014, and if so to who.
